Tara is a smart companion toy for children who have lost their parents to the pandemic. Tara comes with embedded electronics which provides support and care for the child by becoming the ears and eyes for the child in absence of the parent.

Tara, the product

Tara is a foam soft toy for children aged 6 - 10 who have lost their parents to the Covid pandemic. Tara allows the children to express their thoughts and feelings. Tara is a tangible object that can keep them feeling connected to the loved one they lost.

Electronics

Tara comes with two small cameras to record videos, one microphone to record audio and a speaker. Tara can communicate with the child independently and with human aid using AI/ML language that will only get better with time.

Software

An ESP32 chip with wifi connectivity is the main controlling unit for Tara.

Manufcaturing

Made out of either memory/latex foam, Tara is firm and yet soft. It is durable and the cloth cover can be washed.

Hardware

Multifunction buttons are used to give commands to Tara. Long press to record video, single press to capture an image, double press to capture audio. Tara can be charged with a USB C type charger.
